Connect to PayPal
PayPal lets Cadence Calendar accept online payments from families. When it is connected, families can choose PayPal on supported payment pages.
Who this is for
This article is for teachers and organization admins who want to accept PayPal payments in Cadence Calendar.
Only the teacher account owner or an organization admin can manage the PayPal integration.
What PayPal does in Cadence Calendar
When PayPal is connected, Cadence Calendar can use it for:
- invoice payments
- family account credit payments
PayPal is not used for appointment bookings that require payment. Those bookings use Stripe.
How to connect PayPal
- Go to Settings > Integrations > PayPal.
- Click Connect PayPal.
- Authorize the connection in PayPal.
- Return to Cadence Calendar and confirm the PayPal account details appear.
Cadence Calendar stores the PayPal email address and merchant identifier that PayPal returns during setup.
How PayPal is used for invoices
If PayPal is connected, the invoice payment page can show PayPal as a payment option.
That means families can:
- open the payment link from an invoice
- choose PayPal if it is available
- complete the payment without leaving Cadence Calendar’s payment flow until PayPal finishes checkout
After PayPal confirms the payment, Cadence Calendar marks the invoice as paid and records the payment in the account history.
How PayPal is used for family account payments
Families can also use PayPal on the family account payment page when it is available.
On that page:
- the family enters the amount to pay
- PayPal appears as a payment option when the connection is active
- the payment is recorded as an account transaction after PayPal confirms it
What happens after a successful payment
After PayPal confirms payment:
- the invoice balance is updated, if the payment came from an invoice link
- the account transaction is saved, if the payment came from the family account payment page
- the related payment history updates in Cadence Calendar
How disconnecting PayPal works
If you disconnect PayPal:
- future invoices stop showing PayPal as a payment option
- the family account payment page stops showing PayPal
- you can reconnect later from the same page
What to check if PayPal does not appear
If PayPal is missing, check these first:
- PayPal is connected in Cadence Calendar
- the PayPal account information finished saving
- the page you opened supports online payments
- the payment is not an appointment booking, since appointment payments use Stripe
