Import students

This article explains the process of importing students into Cadence Calendar from a spreadsheet

Navigation

  • If you don’t have any students in Cadence Calendar yet, you can get started by clicking the banner button labeled “Import Students” from the home page.

  • If you already have students in the system, you’ll find the import option directly on the Students page. Click Options, then select Import Students to begin.

Import From Template

You can download a ready-to-use template in either XLSX or CSV format. The first row contains the headers for each field tracked by Cadence Calendar. Fill in as much student information as possible in the template—doing so will save you time later when editing or updating records.

Import From Your Own Spreadsheet

If you prefer to use your existing spreadsheet, make sure the first row contains column headers. These headers allow Cadence Calendar to properly recognize and map your data during the import process.

Import from MyMusicStaff

If you’re migrating from MyMusicStaff, go to the Students section within MyMusicStaff. Select the students you want to import, click Options, and choose Download as Excel. The exported file can be uploaded directly into Cadence Calendar for a smooth transfer.

Column Matching

  • After you upload your file, you’ll be prompted to match your data to Cadence Calendar’s fields. Each field is displayed with a dropdown menu containing your spreadsheet’s header titles. Select the appropriate header for each field to ensure your data is matched correctly.

  • Once everything is mapped, click Import. Cadence Calendar will process the file and automatically import your students as active students.
