The account balance is the running total of what a family owes after charges and payments are applied.
The balance can include:
On an individual account page, the balance follows the date you choose.
That means:
Recurring charges are created from a schedule, not all at once.
If a recurring charge has been set up but not generated yet, it will not affect the current balance.
If you want to see the charge itself, check the Recurring Charges section on the account page.
The account balance is the fastest way to answer the question, "How much does this family owe right now?"
Use it when you want a current snapshot. Use transaction history when you want the full trail of what caused the balance to change.
If a family has a recurring tuition charge scheduled for next week, that charge will not affect today's balance until the charge is generated or the selected date reaches it. If the same family has Auto-Pay active and Stripe collects the monthly payment, the balance drops after the payment is posted.
