Search and create anything

Overview

Cadence Calendar has a global search and quick-create dialog that lets you find students, accounts, groups, third-party payers, and pages, or jump straight into creating something new, all from one place.

Opening the dialog

  • Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) from anywhere in the app.

  • Or select the search icon in the top navigation.

Categories

Once open, you can filter results using the category tabs across the top:

  • Overview: a mix of everything, matched against your search text.

  • Create: quick actions for creating new records.

  • Students: your student roster.

  • Accounts: billing accounts and their contacts.

  • Groups: your groups.

  • Third-Party Payers: billable entities set up for third-party billing.

  • Pages: jump directly to any page in the app.

Type in the search box to filter results within the selected category, or leave it blank to browse.

Quick create actions

The Create tab gives you one-click shortcuts to:

  • Add student

  • Add lesson

  • Add appointment

  • Add event

  • Add invoice

  • Add payment

  • Add charge

  • Add expense

  • Add task (organization admins only, creates a task for the organization workspace)

Selecting one of these takes you directly to the corresponding form.

Selecting a result

  • Selecting a student opens the student sheet.

  • Selecting a group opens the group sheet.

  • Selecting an account or third-party payer navigates to its page.

  • Selecting a page navigates you there immediately.

Role-based results

What shows up in the Pages tab and elsewhere depends on your role:

  • Individual teachers see the standard set of pages: Home, Calendar, Appointments, Events, Students, Groups, Notes, Attendance, Accounts, Invoices, Transactions, Messages, Documents, Workflows, Settings, Integrations, and Business Reports.

  • Organization admins additionally see organization pages such as the Admin Dashboard, Organization Settings, Admin Directory, and Admin Schedule, along with Payroll.

  • Organization members see a reduced set: billing-related pages, integrations, appointments, events, and business reports are hidden since those are managed at the organization or admin level.

Related pages

  • Organization permissions: admins and members

  • Add a new student

  • Create an invoice
