The Calendar settings area controls how Cadence Calendar displays and manages your scheduling environment. These options influence how your calendar looks by default, how appointments appear, and whether external calendar systems are synced with your workspace.
In Cadence Calendar, Calendar settings are used to define the day-to-day working habits of your scheduling environment. They can affect:
default calendar display preferences
visibility of weekends
how agends and day views appear
integration with Google Calendar
conflict checking between your schedule and external calendars
These settings are especially useful if you want your calendar to reflect your teaching rhythm, your working hours, and the way you prefer to review appointments.
Depending on your setup, the Calendar settings page may include controls such as:
default display times
whether weekends are shown
whether agenda view is hidden or displayed
whether calendar events should show in a more compact or more detailed format
These preferences largely affect usability. They help you make the calendar feel more aligned with your workflow, especially if you manage many appointments or frequently review the week ahead.
Calendar settings are not just cosmetic. They shape how quickly you can scan your schedule and how clearly you can understand what is coming up.
If weekends are hidden, your calendar may feel more focused on your teaching week. If agenda view is enabled, you may prefer a more linear view of upcoming items. These preferences can make your planning time more effective.
If you connect Google Calendar, Cadence Calendar can compare your appointments against your external calendar to help prevent double-booking or scheduling conflicts. This becomes especially valuable when you already use Google Calendar for personal commitments and want your teaching schedule to stay separate.
One of the most important parts of Calendar settings is the integration with Google Calendar. Google Calendar is a separate connection from Gmail, so connecting or disconnecting one does not affect the other.
The Calendar settings page shows a Google Calendar connection card with a Connected or Not connected tag and the linked account's email. Connecting, managing, or disconnecting Google Calendar happens on Settings → Integrations; the card in Calendar settings links there directly.
Under Appointment conflicts, you can choose which Google calendars Cadence Calendar should check for existing events. When conflict checking is enabled, Cadence Calendar can look for events already on your Google Calendar and warn you when a new appointment overlaps with something else. This is useful for keeping your teaching schedule aligned with your personal obligations. Click Clear conflicts to turn off conflict checking and remove the selected calendars.
If you use multiple Google Calendars, you can choose the specific destination calendar that should receive events created in Cadence Calendar, or choose Do not add new events to a calendar. This selector is disabled until Google Calendar is connected, and it helps keep your teaching schedule organized in the correct calendar or shared calendar.
Set your default display times so the calendar opens in a way that matches your normal working day.
Decide whether weekends should be visible for planning or hidden for focus.
Use agenda view if you want a more detailed list of upcoming appointments.
Connect Google Calendar from Settings → Integrations if you regularly manage both professional and personal commitments.
Choose a destination calendar carefully if you use more than one Google Calendar.
Calendar settings help you tailor the scheduling experience to your teaching style. They improve clarity, reduce booking mistakes, and make your calendar easier to use in daily operations.
